Front cylinder not firing

I have a dyna-s single fire igniton in my 92Flst. My alternator went bad and I was told that that would burn the coil out. I replaced the alternator and the coil to another single fire coil and my number one cylinder is not firing. Any ideas on this problem? Could the alternator going out burn out the ignition?

One of the sporty guys had this problem, as did I. It can be one of two things, coil or ignition module. The way I tested the coil is swapped the module wires on the coil along with the plug wires. Essential single fire coils are two coils in one. By swapping the wires around you are switching coils. If the bike continues to run on the same cylinder then the coil is bad, but if it switches cylinders then the module is bad. My problem happened to be the module so I changed it. I don't see how the charging system could cause this problem due to the fact people kill batteries all the time and it never hurts the ignition. Ignition general needs 9-10 volts DC to work. Hope this helps.

My coil went on me this year, it showed the same symptom. Just did what Ratt suggested to trouble shoot. But also, I was told by tech at Crane to make sure you have a solid 12 volts at coil. If you dont, see what you have at the battery. If ok there than run wire from battery directly to the coil and see what happens.

Another thought, I know it's basic but, don't forget about the plugs and wires, ya never know. This topic is near and dear to my heart becouse I had to TRAILER my bike this summer after my coil of 1 1/2 yrs died on me. Good luck
