Questions:
1. After I install the initial gear with splined end into the starter, which direction does the collar go with the snap ring inside of it? This collar has a snap ring near the end of the collar and I need to know which direction this collar goes in reference to the snap ring inside of it.
2. After the collar is put on, there is a gear with a spring on it that goes on next. The question here is, how should the spring be attached to this starter gear?
3. The bolt that holds the assembly together I believe should be torqued to 60 in/lbs and no more because if it is the starter will bind. Is this correct?
4. Should the starter gear be in contact at any time with the clutch hub? When I did a test assembly, the gear was stepped like it was supposed to fit the outer smaller teeth right on the clutch hub and when the starter engages, it kicks out the starter gear to the larger gear spline to turn the bike over.
The pinion gear will only fit one way. The side that fits in your primary cover should face out.
Help. Thanks in advance for any member time and assistance.
Pictures would be cool if anyone has any.

1. The counterbored end faces away from the starter, with the flat end of the coupler facing the starter.
2. The spring just sits on the shaft between the starter drive coupler and the pinion gear.
3. YES, you dont want that.
4. The pinion gear will only fit one way. The side that fits in your primary cover should face out.
