Exclamation clutch seat problem

First a Hello everyone. 2nd, I don't own a Harley, but my dad does and he's in need of some help. His drive belt broke, and now he's run into some problems. I did some searching and reading and with the help of the manual for his bike, the harlyhog.uk website, and some borrowed tools he's on his way into changing the belt.

Here's the problem, he was following the manual and using a spring compressing tool for the clutch pack. But the Seat broke when he was using the tool and now he can't use it to releave pressure on the clutch pack to get the reataing ring out and eventually get the clutch pack out. I may or may not have explained this 100% correct, as this is happening in california and I am in philly. I don't have pictures either :-/ . Is there anything he can do sohrt of taking it a dealer/shop to finish the job? If I didn't make sense or wasn't clear enough just post and let me know and I'll get the answers.

Thank you for your help

What year is the bike cause if it is a 89 or newer he does not need to diassemble the clutch pack the pack will come off the shaft in one piece

Good luck

Ok, Its a 91 fat boy softtail. And I don't think he's trying to dissasemble the clutch pack its-self, but to get the whole pack off the shaft the pressure needs to be taken off it to remove a retaining clip. (according to his manual and his info). Wherever this "seat" is that the compression tool uses to grab onto is what broke off. I don't understand what it is because I don't have a picture nor have I ever seen it before so I can't picture it to describe it better.

a 91 softtail all you have to do is slackin off the pushrod adjuster and the big c-clip can be removed and then the adjuster plate under that you will find the main shaft nut that is 1 1/8 and spins off counterclockwise the whole clutch pack should pull off with ease because it is on a splined shaft..

good luck
