Oil Temp in RK 2003

I had HD Synthetic replaced in my RK at the 2500 mile service and have just returned from Myrtle Beach Rally. During the week I notice the temp of my oil stayed around 225-degrees. In heavy traffic it got up to 280-290. Is this normal? I'm using a the HD digitial oil stick to get these readings.

Does the synthetic run hotter than fossil.

Thanks.

The oil temperatures that you experienced are typical in traffic. Your gage could be a little off though. Synthetic oil runs cooler than petroleum oil. Your oil temperatures might run cooler as the engine further breaks in though.
