motor hiccupp

I have a 1997 dyna wide glide w/ 36k miles all stock except for sampson pipes. Motor hiccupps when giving throttle even after warming up. It has been recommended that I re-jet carb and get high flow air system. Any suggestions??

Always have someone read your plugs before doing anything.Sounds more like an air/fuel mixture issue than jetting if you're all stock except for the pipes.High flow air cleaner is always a good idea.

rejet and airfilter should do it. But read the plugs first ofcourse.

Check for intake leaks. That's not very many miles for a 97, and when they sit, the intake seals love to dry out and crack.

That being said, the Highflow AC will give you more gains than the pipes did, and ALL CVs need to be tweaked.

I had to have my intake seals changed last week, and the symptom the bike was exhibiting was a hiccupping motor at full operating temperature. Had the seals replaced — no more hiccups.

gsxrboy96 is an unknown quantity at this point
spray some carb cleaner around the intake seals to see if the idle changes at all, if it does, thats a easy fix with new seals, also these evos came from the factory lean...and i mean very lean, fatten the bike up anyway, such as a 45 pilot, the bike will run cooler and better, guranteed !
