oil coming out of the air cleaner?

if this has been gone over, please direct me to the right place?
a little history, '95 heritage, of course the Evo eng. 19k miles. Screaming Eagle pro pipe, and SE air cleaner, the local dealership rejetted the carb. Now the problem, I'm gettin oil out of the air cleaner, I've tried running it a little low on oil, still leaks, It leaks at freeway speeds, and puttin around on back roads. What in the heck causes this? If i went back to the original pipe and air cleaner/backer plate combo, would this go away? Thanks in advance for reading, answering this!!

It sounds like your breather. It is normal for it to be routed back into you air cleaner. The tube, check if it is still there, should be pointed into your air cleaner so the oil mist can go back into your carb and be burned. If it started after the dealer worked on it I would take it back to them.

it has two breather tubes, both of them go thru the backing plate, where i'm thinkin it should be sucked back thru the motor? Is this right?

That's the idea. I have 2 evo's with S&S carbs with 2 diffrent breather routings, neither one seems to output much oil. But my dad's stock shovelhead spits oil from the breather hose constantlly and he tells me that's regular for shovels...I'm curious myself as to why. Perhaps a problem with oil scavenging back thru the system?

http://www.v-twinforum.com/forums/ev...ns-thanks.html

or "venting breathers to catch can, looking for suggestions, Thanks " under the evo technical section has a few sudgestions for breather oil management. Still dosen't clarify to me why some bikes have this problem and some don't. I DID notice that both my evo's are older(88 & 87) and don't have the ?"umbrella vents"? in the heads that route out where the air cleaner backing plate mounts.

ok, here is what I've come up with so far.....
oil filter could be wrong,
breather gear could be bad,
umbrella valve could be bad,
compression rings could be cracked.
I will of course start with the easiest/cheapest, the filter. and go from there. There has got to be a logical explanation for this. I will keep yall posted.

I was wondering if you might have a twin cam oil filter which would cause your problem. My evo is a bottom breather. It started after your upgrade to your air cleaner right?

I agree with myglide. An upgrade is supposed to make things better, not create problems, bring it back to the dealer and have them look into the problem. They should have set it up correctly. if they didn't, they won't admit it and will try to charge you. It should have been done right the the 1st time,so don't let them charge you again because they WILL try!! Unless your dealer is really cool. But it's all about money with Harley these days.
