Unhappy Oil - and lots of it!

My custom EVO is leaking major oil from the left side engine seal. This is a brand-new build and the second seal I've installed. The motor is 103." I've been told to install it backwards for open belt applications..? Seems if it sits longer than a week without starting I get a puddle on the garage floor once it starts. Also, it seems to be "breathing" way too much oil from the crankcase breather valve - which I was told was "normal." Oil pressure (if I remember correctly) was about 25-30psi at idle.

Here are the specs:

...running open belt....103" EVO engine (originally assembled back in 98' so all parts are from that year)...Sputhe cases, S&S flywheels, rods and pistons, Manley Valves, Andrews EV72 Cam, S&S oil pump, S&S Super G carburetor (is this too big for 103"?), STD heads (not setup with breathers), Jim's Roller rockers and Cam cover, solid lifters....HELP!

Greetings,
Seems that I have heard something about HD killing off the original spinon oil filters in favor of a "one style fits all" that has the pressure releif valve too high which causes EVOs to puke lots of oil into the breather which could also be pushing oil out of the main seal.
It could also be the fresh build needing to have time to seat the rings to decrease engine blowby around the new rings.
Hope that helps!
