:confused: lifter question

Ok guys i got one for ya 93 softail S&S 651 cam heads & carb just put in new cam S&S 651 as far as the lifters go i bought a new set of street preformer lifters and now have a miss fire when i gas on it so was wondering if i can take the guts out of the stock lifters and install them in the body of the street preform. ones since i believe there might be something wrong possibly with the springs in the new ones or it could be that they said they were good for cams up to a 650 lift this was just a thought i had

I don`t think the springs in your lifters are your problem, but those street performer lifters go for less than 60 bucks a set, el cheapo lifters are not a good way to save money...

Besides if the old guts fit into the new case why not use the old lifters as they should fit in the hole? Maybe you got a springload issue? Let it bleed down then snug with fingers 3 turns or whatever it calls for.... I know the old lifters are worn and it wont be a good marriage with new and used parts touching. How worn are the old ones? will scotch brite clean them up? Because now the cam is used too technically---right?
