Sounds like it's too rich. Do you know how to correct that?

OK, reasonable thing to do but didn't you put in the sugested spark plug to start with? I'm stickin with too rich for now.

Just to be sure, you are saying the plugs are black and smell like fuel right? I'm just making sure that it's fuel and not oil causing the fouling.

Pull your plugs, if they are wet and black change them. It is easy to flood plugs and once done it ain't gon'a start. get a couple sets gapped and anti-siezed and try again. Stay off the throttle till it fires. also back off the ac pump a couple turns till its running. I did the same thing with an old bike i bought, started it like my old bike and flooded the plugs ,changed plugs, inricher only darn thing fire up.

You can change the jet, or the height of the needle or the size of the needle. There's a lot to play with on a carburetter. I'd be reluctant to do much until you get it to fire off and get it warmed up. Then see how she's running.

Hard to tell you what to do over the internet. A lot of times it's just learning the correct sequence the engine needs for a cold start. I'll probably catch hell for saying this but I have used starting fluid more than once to get a stubborn one to fire up. Just be careful not to use very much. I hear it can waste your engine. Use at your own risk.

Well certainly we do think it should fire right up but "wishin & expectin" ain't gonna change things. Something is not right. Start trouble shooting.
1) you got spark?
2) timing correct?
3) Fresh fuel? too much or not enough?
Keep the battery charged & don't crank the starter for more than 5 seconds at a time. Let it cool down after a few tries. Shut off the gas and let it sit overnight, spray a dash of starting fluid on the air cleaner when you try in the morning. Keep the gas shut off. If it fires up doing this, you can focus on the carb. If it wont fire using ether, it's electric related, trouble shoot the ignition system.
Unless it's assembled wrong (cam timing off) that's all I know to look at.
Perhaps someone else can help. If you figure it out be sure to come back and post the solution will ya?

Korea

I read where there was a batch that were having some serious issues. Have you contacted Revtech support directly?

i had a revtech 100" in my chopper. it ran good when it wanted to and then one day one of the rods snapped and shot the damn thing right through the cases. i do not recomend these engines. they are mass produced with poor quality control. i am now building a hopped up 80" out of harley parts. the revtech 100" comes with the mikuni hsr42. it is a great carb, just a pain in the a** to fine tune, but once you do you' ll love it. you can go to the mikuni website and download the manual. that will help you out.

Post revtech starting

I too had similiar.
1. check the coils are properly earthed.
2. run splitfire plugs
3. from cold full choke & NO throttle.
4. try hooking up 2 batteries in line.
5. dont crank for too long each time.

once it goes it can run sweet.

Thumbs up Late reply

i know this is an old ass thread but I still would like to answer, since i have a revtech 110, i switched from an S and S to a mikuni carburetor and it runs like a beast. my husband also switched carbs on his 98 fatboy and hasnt had any problems anymore, he was fouling out plugs within 2-3 blocks, and it was the damn S and S carb.

GET A MAKUNI CARB AND YOU WILL IMMEDIATELY KNOW YOU HAVE FIXED YOUR PROBLEM
