Anyone have an opinion on Drag Specialties Lifter blocks/Tappet
guides? They any good?

Used the S&S billet blocks on a couple motors, and would like to
again, but Mom says we're spendin too much on this build.

What do you guys think? Save our money? Want to get this bike on
the road. Budget getting tight, but gotta have our chrome...LOL

Thanks for the reply Griz...Yeah, I bought 2 sets of the polished
S&S for my 4" bore motor when they first went on clearance. Not
because I needed 2 sets, but the first set was stolen off mail box
with another $300 worth of parts...coulda killed...

Would like the chrome version for my Son's bike though. Not all that
much more for the 80" over the polished for the 80's. He's not into
polishing as much as I am...LOL...

Thanks again

Thanks for the reply FXDRYDR...Along the same lines as what I was
thinking, but was just hoping someone would tell me what great
parts they were...LOL...wishful thinking I guess.

Guess we could get the S&Scast blocks and put some nice covers
them, but would still have a good piece of change in them by the
time we get done. Don't think they offer those in chrome.

Best price I've seen on the S&S billet chrome blocks is a little less
than $300 shipped. $289 or something.

The original blocks may be OK, but they have 42,000 miles on them
and we're doing cam, bearings, new lifters, and a fresh top-end and
wanted fresh chrome blocks to go with it all. Motor is still all in one
piece at this point....collecting parts...

It's amazing how much a broken neck and a badly torn up leg within
the last 3 years can hurt a "habitual-builder's" budget...LOL...

Thanks again

LOL! Yep. Know all about taking time, collecting parts and getting something good together. The best things take a little time, sounds like you're due!

Re the original blocks, if you measure and they're well within spec, why not run them? Or try some of the engine builders out your way to see what they might have on a shelf, or maybe can do. Thinking KoC and Axtell. Here's hoping!

Meant to thank you for the offer, Griz...

We cleaned/polished the motor (and bike) better than it's ever been.
Found out what we always thought was a base-gasket leak, was a
case-seam leak on the front, just abt 1.5" below the front cylinder.

Crap, Crap, and Double Crap! Did not want to pull the motor and split
the case!

Told Matt just to keep some rags in his tool bag...LOL...

p.s. Crap!

Thanks Lakerat. We may end up giving them a try. Things a little tight around here right now.

Gonna wait til this fall/winter to refreash the motor. Got involved in some other projects on
the bike, like building extended forwards and other improvements.

Think he wants to get back to riding it soon...LOL...

Thanks again..

Yeah Griz, his bike is an 80 inch.

You should check out what J&P is getting for the S&S blocks for our
SA cases right now, $99. You might want to grab an extra set! I
would if I could swing it right now.

Still searching ebay localy here for the set "that got away" :spank:
( I hope that looks like a LEAD-PIPE)
