So I went out, and ordered the S&S Low range jet kit (was about 38 bucks at my local Harley dealer) and after I received it I pulled the carb off the bike. Turns out that they had a .072 main, and a .031 intermediate in the thing. Well after a few tries it ended up running best with a .072 main, and a .0295 intermediate. Just going down one size on my intermediate jet solved the low idle problem.
The thing runs like a champ now, and it idles perfect with that smaller intermediate jet.
I am still wondering from what I have read that when the jets are right the idle mixture screw is supposed to end up around 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 out from lightly seated.
Well I am out about 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 turns now is that ok, or is my intermediate still off a bit? Any adjustment within 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 turns out (like s&s recommends) makes the bike cough, but clears up, and runs great at 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 turns out.
So from what S&S is saying I am still too lean in my intermediate? :/
It runs dam good now, and just cause this screw is out an extra turn will that effect me in the long run, or am I cool to run like this.
Even when I was running the .031 intermediate, and it wouldn't idle for crap I still had to have the thing at 2 1/2 turns out to run right at the sweet spot like it is now.
I am not seeing a S&S part number for a .030 intermediate jet they skip that size for some reason so my .0295 is the best I can do unless you guys know some tricks here to try, cause I know that the next size is definitely too big.
