Carb size
Hi All.
Build finished, as follows,S&S 107,V&H Pro Pipe,Baisley porting,
Woods W6H cam,10.25 comp,Mik 42, Wood 325 AC & Dyna Ign.
HP=114.18 , TQ=125.15. It does just what Scott said it
would do with the 42 carb. Tq peaks early and fast but starts
to drop off at 4300. My tuner (Jarz) also says the carb is the
choke point. My question is, would a 45 Mic carry these #s
farther across the graph,at least to 5000 before dropping off?.
Would a Mic48 be too much carb for this build?. Other than
being too short, it's a smooth sweet running motor.Oh I forgot
it's in an FXR. My last motor was an 88" S&S with Branch
heads, and this 42 carb all else the same. I just want to know
which carb. will give it some legs without killing the bottom.
Thank you all, for sharing your much valued experience. Will.

I've just put a 110" motor into a 1991 FXR and I'm running a Super E carb. As I'm running the motor 'in' high revs hav'nt been an issue. How are you getting on with yours ?

You'll will pick up some with the 45, but that cam will only carry out so far, also.
A 9B/9F would/could have 125/130 within reach, @ 10.8/11 cr.

nice build...
personally from what i have seen and read the 45 will give you a small increase but not what i would call "worth it" ... if its more your looking for then another cam and compression liek Scott mentioned would be the best way....
that build you have has got to be a fun ride, i love my 6H in my little 93" evo

If you were to speculate, what , where and how much do you feel would pick up with
the 45 on this build. Looking for over all ride improvements not just peak #s.
Thank you.

Will,
If I were a betting man, I bet good money that it may soften the intial strike, (but it MAY pick it up) but after that, it should be able make more, and have the ability to carry out further.
You may notice a difference in the exhaust note as well.

Most street work is done off idle.Remember it takes torque to get the mass moving not hp.
