? about oil lines for evo softail

Thanks for looking in... I have developed a seep at the hose end at my tank. I snipped the factory clip off trimmed the hose and used a hose clamp to re fasten. Still seeping there---I think the lines are so old (18yrs) that they are not cranking tight enough cause of age thus my seepage. I am going to R&R hoses but I did a search (oil lines harley davidson) and Russell is the name out there for oil lines. All seem to be steel braided, no biggie if they are black or Rubber to me---I just do not like leaks----But I figured you guys might know who leakes and seeps (who's ferrel ends are better?) what to look for or steer clear of Name? Reference or thoughts?
Thanks and regards,

H-D brand

Well, I installed the HD brand SS clad oils line on my 99' Heritage. Due to tight spacing they were a bitch to install, but don't leak... not yet anyway. I didn't bother installing the SS oil bag drain line.

I use black rubber hose made by Goodyear, get it at NAPA auto parts.

The problem with that braided stuff is it is like having a bunch of hack saws all over your bike. The braided lines have no bearing on leaking or not, it is all about the clamp. Good hose with good worm clamps has worked for hundreds of thousands of bikes for many years. Spend your money on the expensive stuff if thats what you like, but black hose and clamps from Napa will certainly get the job done.

Great ideas with NAPA auto parts... I think they are so buried in there that chroming or glorifying for 150. does not excite me at all. i will check on those worm clips also
thanks again for the input on the braided stuff and leaks and chestnut operation
