S&S Reed Valve

Does anyone have any experience with this. Does it work? or is it hit/miss?
My S&S113 was doing fine without one, then I changed the cam and put in the reed valve and now it is dripping oil from the air cleaner. My builder says could be how full I keep the oil tank but most likely its the reed valve.

Whats the going belief on these? Thanks

I'm on my third motor with one and they work like a trick. I have some oil coming out the breather, but it's from the Baisley 2-1 oil pump gears. I know this because I had it happen the last time I ran 2-1s. Also my last two motors had reed valves, and no carryover. It's possible that when you changed cams, the new one has more duration, and it's spitting fuel into the A/C, collecting grime and looking like oil from the breather?

You would be better off removing the reed valve and putting the steel breather back in ,
we have installed about 20 of the reed valves in EVO's and 18 failed. (In Twin Cams they seem to work fine.)

That's wierd, I have about 8 of them in customers bikes, and my friend and me both run 'em in our bikes, and they ALL are fine. They are nice for repairing trenched cavities, because they only need to seal on the inside where there's not often damage, and for strokers, as they dont need retimed.

I,ve never had a problem with mine,,,I have 2 bikes with them installed. Shovel with a 4 3/4 stroke and a pan with a 4 1/4 stroke,,the cases on the shovel were opened up for the breather gear .The pan cases were left alone,,both motors are runnin S&S oil pumps..I have installed a total of 5 reeds over the years,,,NO complaints..

My S&S 88" was doing good until I put a long duration cam in, installed the reed valve, was no help at all, I put the steel breather gear back in, but removed the screen first. No slobber after that.
