horse power

I have a 1996 ultra classic I just purchased with 36,000 miles. It has streight pipes. Going in with a andrews e-27 cam, ajustable push rods, 2 into 1 thunder header and a power commander ignition system. what hp jump should I expect.

Couple of questions.....

You didn't mention the intake and ignition systems.

These mods will make a difference.

Check out this link.....

about 2 years ago i put an ev-27 cam in my 98 Evo E-Glide standard..
we put it on the dyno right when i got there and i beieve it pulled 58 hp.. 69 tq ...after the cam swap with no carb adjusting or anythign just a warm up ride, it pulled a best of 71hp.. 83 tq...

with your 2 into 1 pipes you should get a bit more tq than that i would expect.. you will love the difference in the power thats for sure, hopefully you can get the carb adjusted to the cam also.. i never had time to do it and wanted more power right away lol

At those miles if the lifters have not been changed, you may want to inspect/replace, as per a Moco service bulletin stating such at 25,000 miles.
Also, at the point of the upgrades, re-surfacing the cylinder heads, -.060", will REALLY bring the whole thing togather.

I have to agree with Scott definatley replace the lifters while your in there. Its cheap insurance. Have a valve job done while your machinist is cutting your heads and she'll run better than new. Enjoy your new bike.

A dead tappet roller can do way more than 250.00 worth of damage. I prefer to increase comp via pistons, so I can retain my options down the road. I have done many stage one minor upgrades and then had to play games to upgrade later. Milling the heads is almost the same work as pulling the cyl.s and fitting hi comp pistons, and you might want to later. 80 hp is pretty easy to get with 10-1 comp and some decent headwork coupled with the right cam. Bolt in cams usually get you around 70 ish hp.
