Clutch snap ring pliers

i asked this question over at HTT. What size pliers do I need to remove the clutch ramp snap ring. HUGH, from what I've seen. Where do I get them? Those that have changed a clutch cable must know.

Are you talking about the snap ring on the clutch basket or inside the transmission end cover where the clutch cable goes into?

For the clutch basket snap ring I use a large 45 degree snap ring plier that I bought off one of the tool trucks.

I sue the same type of tool on the trans end cover. the only difference is I use a straight set.

Check with your local tool company, Snap On, Mac, Matco and Cornwell all have good snap ring pliers. The key is buying thick sturdy tools. The ones for sale at Sears with the replaceable tips aren't going to do it. Well maybe, but it will not be very enjoyable.

Thanks

Thanks EC. Yes the snap ring in the right side transmission cover. I ended up using a pair of needle nose pliers to get the ring off. I took a couple of minutes, but it worked out.
