So the original owner didn't supply you with an MSO or paperwork/receipt regarding a non-matching numbered engine?

Have you asked him/her where the cases came from?

I do have the title which has the numbers recorded that are on the frame and engine...the frame isnt a Harley SN either. the title is legit. no build sheet .

Sumpin ain't right.....An aftermarket frame doesn't come with numbers (MSO) and if it's an aftermarket engine case, AND the numbers match the frame.....then someone took the liberties of stamping numbers and you'll have some explaining to do if you get stopped by johnny law.

What does the title say, regarding the "make" and "model"?

If it was built by a manufacturing company who's licensed to produce bikes, that might explain matching engine/frame numbers...... and only a title.

A company like Big Dog, or the likes, I believe, can do this..........

Aftermarket frames, engine cases and transmission cases all come with an MSO. When the bike is titled the MSOs are surrendered in exchange for the title. It would be impossible to transfer an MSO with a custom built bike.

In the case of an already titled bike that someone has replaced the engine or transmission case then the MSO should go with the bike.

What should transpire sometimes doesnt..shoot ,i could build a chopper with all custom parts..as long as i have paperwork to prove the parts arent stolen..have it inspected by the local police ..get a sticker...i can get a title ,,and sell the thing...so ...

Dave63,,,,
the frame has a serial number ..lt side of thge neck..but it doesnt start with the usuall HD number..ats a

The frame is a "ultima" from mid west cycle supply or jireh cycles. I bought one 2 years ago & that's how the # started on it. Start your engine search with them also. They use HD castings for thier 80" & 96" motors. Probally one of thier bike kits.

Ditto, reagarding the frame being an Ultima.

However, I believe their engines also start the serial number with "U"....

I called a friend of mine whole builds bikes. Maybe he knows. I post up....

Around here they call it an SOS [Secretary of State] title. You build it, they come out & inspect it then stamp the #'s in it. Maybe you got som ething like that.

Yeah, Larry, that's basically how I got a VIN on the car I'm building from scratch. A little different, but the State assigns a VIN. Here they mail you a sticker and you are expected to stamp it into the frame yourself.

So, Lowfly, that was a polished S&S motor then?

Not an SS motor..but they ID;d the eng as a basic 1340 using the Serial number I gave them..guess they have a better search library,,???

..though not the HD serial number...

the heads have 97 HD case into them (raised letters) the case are polished and stamped....cannot find markings or Logos..
