Oil Smoking Engine Update
The problem turned out to be the oil pump. It was a new S&S HVHP pump. Did not have a machined groove to bring oil over to the hole that feeds the lower end. S&S replaced it for free with a non HVHP pump.
All this was discovered by the guys in the engine room at Axtell. I sent the entire engine across the country to Axtell to be rebuilt. The engine is back in the bike and after 450 miles I think everything is going to be fine.
Compression is 198f/194r, leak down is 7% on both cylinders. Absolutely no smoke out the pipe. Besides the exhaust and the usual rocker arm stuff this engine makes almost no noise.
The specs on this engine are:
3 13/16" bore (0.030" over)
4 5/8" stroke
STD Engine Cases
STD Heads prepared by Baisley (2.1" In 1.7 Ex)

The guys at Axtell were terrific to work with and it didn't cost me near as much as I thought it would. My work schedule has prevented me from riding as much as I would like, but I pan to get it on the dyno soon. This engine is in my FXR that is stripped down pretty lean. My break in rides have all been below 4k rpm so far, but can tell that it is going to run very strong.
I am thinking of trying a big 50CV or Mikuni 48 carb, some 2" cycle shack tapered pipes, and maybe some bottle. Maybe...
Anyways, glad to have it back in the bike and have everything alright.
Again, big thanks to everyone at Axtell.
