Pushrod rubbing tube with Rev Tech heads...

wondered if there are any skinny quick change evo pushrods...?

I put rev tech heads ans a Woods w8 in my evo and I couldn't get the valve noise to go away from the front pushrod, also have trouble getting the tube down into it's seat... After investigation,I found the pushrod hex and adjusting nut rubbing the inside of the tube....Poor machining from Rev Tech? The ajusters are higher being quick change, combined with the extra lift, gets the hex on the pushrod up into the smaller part of the tube....

The adjusters take a 1/2" wrench (andrews,I think)

Bike was working great... would like smaller pushrods or bigger tubes...(?)... (and no,the pushod isn't bent...)

Thanx...

You can bore out the inner pushrod tube for more clearance. Also shorten the inner tube by cutting .100" from the bottom. The lower part of the pushrod is hitting the bottom edge of the tube.

We had experienced the same many years ago with those damn pushrods.
We use S&S pushrods in all our builds, as they have manufactured pushrods for over 50 years now.
We figure that they have a good handle on that.

After investigating... I found the pushrod straight, but the threaded insert crooked.... Had to machine the hex end fitting on the tube and straighten the insert... These pushrods are made of cheese!

Also had to machine .100" off the end of the aluminum tubes...

It is rubbing thru on the chrome tube where it necks down...

Scott... are the S&S rods smaller,or just straight and strong?

I have Taper-Lites from Rivera, straight and Chromoly. I had real junk before that. I've trimmed a half inch off my tubes, and still get a lot of noise. When it gets hot, it sounds like it's falling apart. It appears as the head and the base expand from heat, the tubes are buckling in on the rods. For a couple hundred bucks you can probably find something here that works:

I ain't spending that much money. I'm wondering if I put two clips on each tube would keep them from buckling in.

Hi Bluharley, I finally got my problem solved. I'm not sure if its the same as your problem, but it was too long to post here, so I made up a simple web page with photos.
Hope this might help somebody.
