timing issues on rebuilt evo

A friend sent his motor to harley for reconditioning ,since putting it back in it wont run it pops the front cyl and thats it. Pulled the nosecone and lined the timing marks all up and checked the pistons and they were almost all the way down after compression.
Pulled the plugs and rolled it over and it sparks as the pistons are on the way down. I think its off 180 but I havent worked on evos so I dont know any help is appreciated THANKS
