when my biek was stock i did not notice this problem, once i put a small EV-27 cam in it i didn't notice it.. but since i have added a stroker kit (93") hotter cam ( 6H ) and allot of head work ( Hillside) , i am missing 3rd gear when i am shifting under full throttle acceleration, only from 2nd to 3rd..

now i have big feet 15eeee so its not liek i am missing the shifter lol

starting to pissss me off ya know what i mean ? the tranny is stock 1998 FLHT

Mike,
Either the pawl assembly spring is shot, or it needs an adjustment, that can be performed, easily.

Mike, give me a call back, I will look at the shifter paw adjustment for you when we fix the front fork. Talk to you later. Joe

I had the same problem with mine. Put in Andrews gears, pawl, shift drum & still missed. Took it all out & put in an S&S 6 speed. Never miseed a gear again. My 4 speed Shovel never missed a gear either. Something about that 5 speed. Good luck.

If the above doesn't work you might want to check for a bent shifter fork (finger?).
