advice on what 3 oils to use in 3 boxes

yes i have a owners manaul. but just wondered what u guys are running for engine oil, trans oil , primary oil. this is my first harley its n 2003 electra glide ultra classic with 6500 miles on it. im mechanically inclined n after the dealer told me 500 bucks to change it all n lube everthing. i was starting to think i was the one getting lubed.cant cost that much even if you ran the best oils. just wanted to know what i should run in all 3 boxxes thanks for any advice and info.

Different choices for oil but I've been running Spectro products.
I use oils that are for the engine, tranny and primary.
Not one muti-purpose oil.
Spectro 6-speed tranny.
Spectro 20W50 engine oil. You can use either dino or synthetic.
Spectro primary.
K&N oil filter.

Lots of different oil brands, your choice.

I did total the cost of oils and filter and it was in the $60 area.

Do it yourself and save $440 from the dealers $500 "offer".

I run AMSOIL in the engine and REDLINE in the other two. But if you do a search you'll find that people use just about every oil made. It's more of what you can get your hands on I think. Just be sure you use motorcycle specific oil.

I use Amsoil in all holes.. eng oil, trans oil, primary I use eng oil.. Any top brand oil will work just fine.....
One suggestion, If you don't have a torq wrench get one for the plugs...

I use Amsoil in my 20 RK..
For the tranny is use their Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube

Works great and shifts smoothly and very little "klunk" on sifts

There are many aftermarket oils to use.

I'm using Mobil 1 in the engine,Primary + or Valvoline 20W50 motorcycle oil in the primary and Valvoline 75W90 synthetic in the tranny.

I also have used Amsoil in the engine and tranny,Redline Shockproof Heavy in tranny,Spectro primary lube.Cant tell any difference other than cost.

I run Harley 20w50 in the engine, and Formula + for the transmission and primary. Figured it was born this way from Harley. It was good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

I was good enough for them to take out the Timken crank bearing too. That was in the customers best interests, right?

And don't forget, for years they told us that synthetic oil couldn't be used in their engines.

I run Olive in the Primary

Oil is like a Religion you know.....
some get it and some don't

I use Redline products Never One in all three holes.

IMO,,,,Tranny's are made to use GEAR OIL..

I use 20/50 Redline in the motor
MTL Redline in the primary
ShockProof Heavy in the tranny

Never Ever any metal on the tranny plug... I went 18,400 miles on the ShockProof tranny lube... Still no metal on the magnetic plug,,,, NONE....

I usually change the engine oil at max of 4000 miles and primary at the same time. I do use HD oil filter, Jagg 6 row oil cooler mounted on my left down tubes on my 09 KING...
