mobil 0w-20 oil in tranny

Opinions if this could be used for 300 miles to get rid of shavings without hurting. Had the tranny bearings fail and had a local shop flush trans and replace bearings. 1200 miles and 4 fluid changes I'm still getting some shavings on the speed sensor even though the gear oil looks clean. Thinking maybe the super light oil will help in getting any lost shavings loose and out. I'm thinking trans wasn't flushed well in first place and hoping it's not new metal.

Have you talked to your shop?

It is what it is ,happy don't count.. I'm sure they would make it right if it comes apart again,I'm just trying to avoid that from happening.

Which bearing did the shop replace? Any time a bearing fails on a tranny, you must disassemble the unit and clean it out. It is not that big of a job.
I don`t think you will get all the metal shavings out.

First change at 300mi both drain plug and speed sensor were covered . 2nd thru 4th change nothing on plug and decreasing shavings on sensor, Last one very little on sensor but still there. All bearings were changed and " clean up metal debris in case" is how work order reads. 9 hrs. labor plus all gaskets ,seals, bearings etc. My thoughts were 100 miles with the thinner oil might "rinse" the remaining debris off the gears and into suspension or the bottom of the case. WTFDIK?

If the debris seem excessive, something is wrong or they did not clean it that good.

What is the warranty?
I would be talking to them.
