mistakes in the service book

Had my used 05 Super Glide for a year. As I do all my own car repair I have books on my two cars. So I go and buy a service book at Harley to work on my bike. I have found one mistake and one just bad advice as far as I'm concerned. One is the amount of oil it holds. The books says 3 qts. As I do in my cars I put so much in then start it to get the oil into the filter. When I checked it the stick shows almost over full after 3 qts 26 oz.

Also the books says 30psi for front tire and 35 for back. I had been running 40psi in both after a harley mech. told me it was a good round presure. took it for a 120 mile trip and hated it. Feeling was mussy and road defects would almost turn the wheel. Put 40 back in at end of ride.

Has anyone else had these problems? Just get on once a week so it will be next weekend until I check the form out.

If you only put 26 oz of oil in what you thought was the engine, you've got a major problem. That's not the engine you're filling up, sounds like the transmission.

BlueGlide can you go over your oil capacity again for me. Im thinking I must have read it wrong. You said 26oz for the motor? How much for the tranny and primary? Thanks

Sorry about how much oil I put in I'm trying to finish painting the master bedroom b4 the wife gets back from her sisters. Told her I already had it done. What the books of course says is 3 qts I put in 2 qts and 26 oz. My bad I'll take the hits for it.

That's about normal considering draining the oil probably leaves the remainer somewhere in the engine and oil lines. No way can you drain it all out.

Yeah 3 qts overfilled mine a bit and I had to take out a few ounces to get it back down to the fill level on the dipstick.

My manual (2007 FXDB) says 3 Qts DRY...2.5 Qts when changing oil and filter...

You can't always believe everything you read in your owner's manual either

Mine states that you can't shift into neutral from second gear.

I shift from second to neutral routinely, too. My point was that my owner's manual says it's not possible. The bike is a 1200 Custom Sportster, but I'm pretty sure all Harleys can shift from second to neutral.

Havnt seen that in the manual for my DYNA...dont have a manual for the E Glide...
The up shift table is a joke though...suggest shifting into 6th at 55mph...talk about lugging the engine...I prefer 65-70 for going into 6th...but then I like to keep the enging around 3k RPM most times...
