How Does One Get The Oil Out Of The Oil Cooler When Changing The Oil & Filter?

I have a HD Premium Oil Cooler on my 2005 Road King. I appreciate any comments

I'm not sure there is a way other than pulling it off and dumping it out.

I have one and have never worried about it, never had a problem and have a pretty good amount on miles on my bike.

There can't be too much oil in there anyway.

One usually doesn't worry about it. Regular oil changes will keep you in good shape, even if there is a little old oil in there.

BTW, Welcome to the VTF. Feel free to stop in the "My Story-The Beginnings" forum and post an introduction.

Yeah, you leave the better part of a quart in the crankcase when you change oil anyway. The additional oil left in the cooler shouldn't make a difference with the proper oil change intervals.

But, if it matter to you, I've seen a device at rallies called "Total Oil Change". Google it and you should find it. It basically is a device that helps you flush out and replace the otherwise left behind oil in an oil change.

yep... not enough volume to make much difference....

been running coolers for 30+ years and never once (unless the motor scatered) bothered to drain out the cooler when changing the oil...

Get a Fueling oil cooler. You change the filter out in it as well with the Oil and your regular filter.
