comments regarding royal purple

Just my .02 worth...
I've been running Mobile MC, but my local Nampa had Royal Purple 20-50 on sale for a bit over $7...so, 3 quarts and a filter later..I'm headed up through central Idaho into Montana this week-end.
From just the initial "warm it up, see if it leaks" trial...she's running quieter than Mobile 1 or Amsoil have....but then, I change every +/- 3000 miles....it all works up to 3000!

Hmmm. I just changed from 20-50 v-twin non synthetic to Mobil -1 syn v-twin 20-50 and seems to make things quieter.

I've ran Mobil 1, Amsoil and RP. All VTwin 20/50 synthetic. All for 1month this summer.
My opinion....Mobil 1 was the quietest followed by Amsoil and RP. I found the RP to be very noisy in the cam chest.
All ran the same temp.

Marketing gimmick I guess......I am sure there are folks out there who use it just because of the color!!

Some people will buy or not buy based on color for some reason. Years ago Arco had an oil that was black due to the graphite added to the product. It didn't go over to well due to people not wanting to put black oil in their motor. Amsoil use to dye their 75w 90 severe gear lube with a green dye for some reason and I actually had some garage owners that were disappointed when Amsoil removed the dye a few years back. That really surpised me since they were installing it typically in differentials where the fluid would never be seen again unless it leaked. Color is used in many products to make them more acceptable to the consumer and I am sure Royal Purple has done the same here as part of their marketing efforts.
