Best place to purchase oil/filter?
Where is the best place that you have found to purchase oil filter engine oil, and all other engine fluids? My 5000 service is coming up soon and I plan on changing all the recommened fluids myself. I have a 2004 FXSTBI.

This is a very open ended question. You'll get alot of opinions. What fluids do you plan on using? My personal conviction is to stay away from wal-mart. Most automotive part centers will have what you need. Or call George, a site sponser for Amsoil.

I have used the Bosch 3330 filter for many years with good results. I put 75,000 miles on my 04 running them. I am running one on my 03 right now. I am not even going to recommend an oil there are so many to choose from. Any good syn 20/50 will do though. Preferably one designed for motorcycles. ATF in the primary and gear oil in the trans.

Best Place to Buy Oil & Filter
You asked so this is my opinion:
Call George Douglas ( Site Sponcer ), set up an account. Have the following delivered to your door step.
Order the following:
5 Qts of Amsoil 20/50 for Harley. 4 for the oil change and a little left for topping off between oil changes.
1 Qt. Severe Gear 75/110 for the Trans.
1Qt. Synthetic ATF fpr the Primary.
Change fluids per Service Manual ( a must).
Fill tank with gas and ride the hell of the thing.............Really

So I went down to pepboys and looked at the different size oil filters as I was told on here that frahm was the worst and I looked at the others and I got to tell you more filter seems like a better idea then less filter... I use the Framm heavy duty ph2870A and I cant see the how one is better then the other other then micro filter (not the beer!) thats micro brew but the dense of the filter and then you gotta think about getting to dense as the pressure will be affected, no? To get around safety orange I grab a rattle can and shoot before I start and dry by the time I am ready to spin it on. I have been in my motor a few times and it is pretty shiny in there ... I know, I know tell me about stats and graphs I am just using experience in the California Desert.

Blacktrain,
Just as HDSG and doc ock said,
contact George Douglas, www.oilhelp.com and he will set you right up. Product will be delivered to you doorstep and you will get it for the same cost as a dealer.
Personally I use the 20W-50,(MCV), for the engine, Super Shift,(ART), for the primary, and Severe Gear 75W-140,(SVO), in the trans.
I use this combo in all my customers bikes,(Evo's and TC's) with no problems and all positive feedback.
Don't forget to get an EaOM134, (black) or 134C, (chrome) filter.

I use 75/90 for the transmission, but Amsoil's the way to go. George'll have it on your doorstep two days after you order the stuff. Make sure you order a filter and filter wrench from him too.

You are correct, I forgot the Amsoil Filter. I use them and get them from George Douglas also. Thank you for mentioning the filter.

I use Mobil 1 full synthetic in the crankcase, Redline Heavy Shockproof in the transmission, and ATF in the primary. I'm running a Baker DD6 transmission and a Rivera Primo Pro clutch.
K&N oil filters for me. They are excellent filters and I like the hex nut on the end for easy removal,... especially with the engine oil cooler right there in the way.

Yep and I don't have to order it. $24 for a 5 qt jug @ Walmart for Mobil 1 Syn. The other items @ the local auto parts...

That's the most important part. Should be the 11th commandment: Thall shall not shop at Wall Mart!
Aside from that, George is a stand up guy that offers good service to forum members.

Hey NightCross, where did you get the cross over to Wix? I've been stuck using fram PH6022 motorcycle filters out of Advance for around 6 bucks.
Primary: Castrol ATF Multi-vehicle it's a synthetic blend
Trans: Mobil 1 75W / 90
Engine: Mobil 15W / 50 wallyworld
Filter: Fram PH6022
