HD Synthetic Blend

At my local HD dealer I see that HD has a new motor oil out - 20W50 synthetic BLEND. Screaming Eagle stuff at around $7.95/quart.

According to the MSDS for Syn3 it is a synthetic blend. The CAS # for bright stock (Group I conventional base oil) is listed as one of the components.

I was in the local dealer the other day and another customer asked about the "new" synthetic blend. The counter person told him engine only on that new blend...

Yup, I was just reading that over on the HD web site. Not for use in the transmission or primary, so it's like HD 360.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US why would you pay 8 bucks for a blend when you can get full syn for less. Amsoil for about 7.00 qt

Can you somehow back up the first part of your claim? I like and have used both Amsoil and M-1...both are excellent products. Amsoil can be purchased at many stores, but much more easily online or through George. I order it and it's on my front porch in 2-3 days.

I keep enough of whatever fluids I'm using for my car and bike on hand just in case I feel the desire for an unplanned oil change (never happened), but I can't imagine not having the foresight to order or go buy oil ahead of time.

You might not like the way Amsoil is sold, but a whole lot of folks do.

Screaming Eagle 20w-50 has ALWAYS been a blended synthetic....nothing new other than recommended applications.

My H-D dealer has the NEW Semi Synthetic 20W50 and its 7.95 a quart. Still to much money for a quart of oil.. i run Bardahl 20W50 for $1.35 a quart.(put over 5000 miles on it during my trip and its really good stuff). why pay the big bucks for oil. i do run a oil cooler. remember it all better than ?? well you know.. that stuff will make you engine tick.. go to bob is the oil guy .com.. and see for yourself..

No, they just cut out the middle man. As you can see Amsoil is used in many motorsports. AMA for one.

Amsoil Its also the choice of engine oils for trucking, logging and other heavy usage. Those people do the sample oil tests and are getting 200,000 miles out of it.

You don't see that happening with Mobil 1 even though its great oil!!!
