It's not a problem for the summer.

you won't hurt anything but really do you know what weight you will be ending up with. Why not just go straight 50 or 60. or stick with 20-50. Unless you have a lab test the virgin oil to tell you what it is going to be. heck 2 quarts 20-50 plus 1 quart 60 might =23-52 so what have you gained without actually doing an analysis.

funny you post this!
I changed my oil about 2500 miles ago.
I filled it 1/2 quart low to minimize blow bye.
so after 2500miles it's 1 quart low (forged pistons new build)
I just added 1 quart of straight 70 wt. to the 20-50.
think it will end up 25-55 LOL

Just wondering what it would come out to, The 20w50 beeing a multi wt, would the straight wt effect both the lower as well as the higher number? Or if you was to use two 60wt to one 20w50?

there is no way of knowing unless you do a lab analysis. it is not like mixing blue and yellow and getting green LOL...actually I don't know if blue and yellow give green or not.

In the summertime, I wouldn't expect you would ever see the lower number work anyway. I agree with the previous post, just use a straight 50 or 60wt to begin with.
