Torco V-series "SS" Syn 20W-50?

OK, I've read the many posts about Torco V-series oils touting their MPZ - aeration/foam reducing additive. But most of the Torco oil talk has been centered around their straight 50W or 60W petroleum based oils. I personally want to use the same type of engine oil through out the riding season which can include some pretty cool/cold temps, so I don't believe straight weight oil is the way to go - especially a petroleum based oil. I am also a big believer in using a quality synthetic in the engine, so who can give me feedback on Torco's V-series "SS" Synthetic 20W-50 oil which also uses the additive MPZ? Does their MPZ really cut down or eliminate foaming? Will this oil really reduce engine temps vs. competing 20W-50 synthetic oil?

Our primary oil we use here is Torco's 20-50 "SS" synthetic & "TR" blended oils, we have never had any problems. Out here on the left coast heat is always an issue, the Torco oil's help dissipate the heat better than most. We have not seen any problems with foaming caused by the oil.

20/50 V series works well in the spring and fall with the 50wt being good up to 85 or 90 degrees. If temps are over 90 then you can run the straight 60wt. My temps are cool, and I'm switching to 50wt on the next change. 60wt when I go to sturgis this summer.

Do you change your oil a 3rd time when temps fall back down into the 70's-80's and then once again when they drop below 70?

I'll run 20/50 when temps are low in the spring and fall like they are here in the West of the Rockies. Once their over 60 degrees on a regular basis (July & August) I'll run 50 weight. When running in temps over 90 degrees such as the 100+ temps in Sturgis, i'll run 60 weight. I change my oil to match temperature conditions and that helps protect my investment. Oil is cheap, high performance motors are not. Pretty simple equation.

GasCan - Just so clear on this, based on where you're located, it sounds like you will be changing your engine oil 5x per riding season - 20W/50 > 50W > 60W > 50W > 20W-50???

The v-series "SS"synthetic has a JASO MA rating, so it's suitable for the primary, but I don't believe it would be your best bet in the transmission as there are other lubes (mainly gear oils) that will work better in the transmission (imo).

Torco has 100% synthetic primary oil (rated API GL-4) and SGO gear oil in different weights (rated GL-6 SAE 75w-90, SAE 75w-140 and SAE 250). We use the SGO 75w-90

I think DB is referring to this: http://torcousa.com/products/product...a-cd0965cef88c

I'm sure you're looking at the v-series line for Harley & V-Twins?

Well I ran Torco for about 5000 miles and switched back to Redline Synthetic. Not only did the Redline drop the temp a bit, it's also quieter. Ran the coast to Cali and all I could get when it was time for a change was Redline and I'm happy to have switched back. Now have Redline in all three holes again.
