Use Harley's own tranny oil.

Didn't the Heritage come out in '86?

Murph is the only one who caught it. There was no faux hardtail Heritage in the shovel lineup.

FWIW, I always used good ole HW gear lube in the maytag trannies with good luck.

ETA: I am eating my words.

!981 Heritage

There might be a Heritage in '86, but mine was made in 1981. It was the first one made when the employees bought back from AMF. There was 784 made. I know one other one is in the York,Pa. museum.

Well smack my ass and call mee Sally...there is such a thing as a (very rare) 1981 Heritage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QtBR3NYHiE

My apologies!

Again, I always used 75/90 gear lube in my 4 speed with decent results. In the summer I ran a heavier weight just for shiites and giggles.
