Good Oil Coolers
Is there any good oil cooling units that actually help keep the oil temp down, especially in a traffic situation, the Harley unit has been nothing but trouble and I have actually had my oil pressure drop down to zero in traffic. Just looking for Ideas on what to do to keep my bike runnin healthy for longer. And i use the premium harley oil cooler.

I always liked the Jagg Oil coolers, they are mounted out on the downtube of the frame & (in the breeze) catch good air. HD's set-up last I saw was below the front motor mount kinda behind the front fender..
But with any cooler you need air moving thru it first..

There is an article in AIM this month on oil coolers. It has a good general discussion on the characteristics of a good oil cooler, oil pressure drop being one of them. The objectivity on what brand is best is skewed toward Jagg in the article.

Anybody running the MOCO parade fan or the Lanalle (sp) fan? In traffic they seem like they might help the most.

Nothing helps in stop and go traffic, these are AIR cooled motors. Try the electric fan. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

The heat is the real problem. since HD engines do not use babbit bearings, oil pressure is not important. it is important the there is flow, but when oil is hot, manty times it does not register on a gauge (with a non babbit bearing engine)

I have a Lockhart oilcooler on my 1994 deep breathing FXRP,
in sofla summer heat at red lites it never gets over 160 oil temp.
Thermostat is a piece of cardboard and two velcro straps.
A bud who used to road race said Lockhart makes the best coolers,
mines been on the bike 13 years and stil looks and works great.
