75/90 or 75/140, which is better for an 88 Trans?????????
I have been using Amsoil 75/90 Severe Gear in my trans. I see that many are using the heavier 75/140, is the extra weight needed? Will the trans do better? Thanks for any and all replies in advance.

I run Mobil 1 75/140 in the summer (but I do put a lot of miles on in the summer) and
run 75/90 during the winter, fewer miles but ride it non the less..
have fun choosing..

I think I should be doing the same. I am due to change all three fluids and I will go with the 75/140, it has been warm here and will continue to be for a while yet. Thanks.

stick to the synthetic.. I think that it performs far better than the dyno oils....

Since you're going with Amsoil, you may want to try their Severe Gear 75W-110 and use it year round...

I'm using the Amsoil 74/140 Severe and am really happy.
My indy said the only reason to run the 75/90 instead is to squeak out a couple of more miles per tank. It's been really hot here and I ride a lot and get stuck in traffic time to time (DC) so I like the extra viscosity in the heat.

Run the 75w-140.
It gives us the added film strength and does not affect the gas mileage. The 140 in a Syn is a whole different animal than a dino 140......
Use it with confidence.

I run 75w-140 year round and won't need to change it for about 20,000 miles.

Guys run what ever makes you more comfortable as you can not hurt your tranny using any of the combinations described in this thread. I have tested the 20w 50 Amsoil and their 75w 90 and each at 5,000 miles had the same exact wear characteristics or should I say no wear. I personally have not tried the 75w 110 yet, but would have no reservations using it.

I run amsoil 74-140 the most.
Sumax i hope that oil is better than your fenders for narrow glides , twisted junk and terrible custumer service.
