2004 Road King Custom No power to anything!

The other night I was out riding. I hit some pretty nasty dips/potholes in the road and my bike cut out. All the lights went out, engine shut down. The switch was still in the on position and everything was blacked out. Once I stopped, I turned the switch on and off and got nothing. I checked the fuses, everything looked fine. I'm assuming the battery is good, because I had some speakers that are wired straight to the battery and they still work. Electrical is my weakest area. Any help would be appreciated. Hopefully someone has experienced this and can help me get my scooter back on the road. Thanks in advance.

I would first check the ground wire from the battery. Make sure all battery connections are tight. Do you have a voltmeter?

Wire could possibly come unplugged from switch under panel on fuel tank.

Make sure your main circuit breaker is OK, through it being triggered by a bump tends to piont to a loose connection.

Yeah, I've got a voltmeter. Not a pro with it though. Haha. I've been doing 14 hour days all week so I haven't had any time to go through it. Ill have time this weekend so Ill start from the battery connections and work my way out. The wires to the ignition switch sounds like a good place to check too.

Well, I found a problem. My maxi fuse is blown. I had a spare 40a blade fuse and when I reconnected the battery it popped pretty quick. I'm calling it a night for now. What should I check next?

Now you're on to something...I would continue to check all leads/connections tied into that fuse. Here is a thread where I had some electrical gremlins to chase down. Ended up going through all connections, cleaning & re-tighening and that did the trick...good luck!

Alright...problem solved. Found a bare wire on my voltage regulator connector. Patched it up, put my new maxi fuse in, put everything back together and fired it up. Ran fine. I'm gonna put some miles in tomorrow. Hopefully that did the trick. Thanks for all your input. I appreciate it.

Electrical issues like that are hard to troubleshoot over the internet. Glad you found the problem. Happy riding.
