Service manual is vague... stator removal?

Cases are stripped and ready for machine work... all except for the stator. I pulled the clip from inside the connector, but can't see if there's tabs I need to press to get the wires released from the connector housing.

Also, once that is done, does the rubber grommet/plug going through the case just push through? or....?

If you have the clip from inside the connector removed, then the two wires are just pushed in and held by the molded rubber near the end of each wire into the connector. It has been awhile, but the wires should be able to pushed or pulled out with some pursuasion.

As far as the grommet goes. You will need to push it thru into the primary housing after you disconnect the stator from its mount. A small flat head srewdriver or something similar to push the outer edges of the grommet rubber into the hole will help wriggile it thru.
If you reuse the stator, you will need to use RTV silicone or some sealant to reseal the grommet to prevent primary oil leaks. That rubber gets very hard and less pliable from exposure to the heat and oil over its life and oil finds its way out the grommet hole.

yeah, clip is out and I pulled the silicone rubber plugs out of the connector and slide them up the wires. I didn't want to pull too hard on the wires... typically there is some sort of clip in there, but I hadn't had much luck seeing anything down in there to pry on.

thanks for the info on the plug... that's the only thing I could figure as well (pushing it through the hole)
