Headlight and other lights just went out!

Hello all,

I have a 1999 Sportster that I converted last week to a fat bob tank (kit via internet) and when everything was painted and buttoned up today it all worked perfectly. Here is my problem.

I took the bike on its maiden ride today and before I left I checked High and low beam (both worked), horn, high beam identifier light, oil light, neutral light, horn, turn signals, and running lights on front. Everything was working great when I left for the 3 mile trip to the closest gas station.

When I turned on my road I noticed that I thought I heard a "ticking" sound. Kinda like a pecking lifter maybe ( I only mention that incase it might have some relevance to my problem at hand).

I pulled in the driveway and when my light was facing the garage I noticed that the low beam was out. Thinking I might have just bumped it too hard while installing the tank setup I didnt fret but I got off and turned the switch to high. I noticed the light on the console did not light up signifying High Beam was on and then I looked and the High Beam light was shining on the garage. Then the High Beam flickered and went off. Now I have no High or Low beam. None of the 3 lights I wired on the console are working now. The 3 lights do not affix to anything for a "body ground". They use a 2 wire hookup so all I did was run them in place of the lights from the original sportster idiot light bar. The bike still starts and runs perfectly. I started by removing the console and checking my connections and they are all still soldered and shrink tubing wrapped. They are all still zip tied perfectly like a picture in the tracks I put them in. So I pulled out the clip to the main harness and it is still plugged in tightly. I didnt go any further so I thought I would come in and ask if you guys had thoughts or ideas first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks so much!
Brian

do you have your modules and pins on the frame between the tank? Yeah maybe you hit or got those needle pins binding or unzipped. Only happens when the tank was just filled. (bad joke)
If you have a tester it will make it easier very cheap. 12 volt tester start at one end get the schematic or chase the color all the way I say you got power to one side of the block and is not coming thru. No fuse right? Plus where is the ground out if so?
Again start at one end and work thru it do not jump around buying stuff that you are not sure about. Pop that tank and chase it down with a 12 volt lit tester Luck

Thanks! I cannot find a "fuse box". Where are the fuses? My plans for the weekend are to take the tank off and begin with the wires in the channel but I definitely won't just throw parts at it. I have a good meter and a test light to use but this just caught me off guard since it was working great for the 20 or so minutes I was riding it.

thanks again and anymore thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have a bad ground or maybe pinched a wire on the install. Do as stated above and do a good plug to plug check. Obviously fuses would be my first check. Im not sure about the location of your fuse box though. Maybe under the cover on the left side of your bike under/behind the seat.
