really need some electric help please

thanks for looking in...
i rode out to vegas for bike week and i had a break down. my stator where it plugs into my regulator melted... battery went dead and got it back going with a fast charge at a station.
i disconnected head, running, and tail lights. made it to vegas but cant rebuild here nor pay at this time.
question? does anyone know how much juice does just the motor use to run?

i was going to buy a charger... charge it overnight and was wondering if the full charge battery will vet me 360 miles with about 4 stop and stsrts with no lamps drawing just the motor? please if you can or you are near vegas strip and can help a bro out appreciate it. just pm me i am doing this remotely via cell phone
thanks

dude, get yourself to a parts store and get some bullit style or spaded type connectors. cut one wire at a time (these are not color coded)from the melted plug off the reg and the melted plug off the stator end. do your crimps one at a time and get the bike home. good luck.

You ignition module needs a minimum of about 9 volts to funtion (if electronic, not sure what year bike you have). I don't see the battery maintaining that voltage for 6 hours. If you have time to recharge at each of your four stops, maybe you have a chance. Each time you start the bike will take some away from the battery. If you don't have enough voltage it will not start.
I would be concerned why the connectors melted. Could be due to a short, bad stator, bad voltage regulator, etc. If you try to repair with some crimped on wires, be sure to feel the wires while running to see how hot they are. They shouldn't be very hot unless there is a problem.

Which way are you heading? If you are coming down I-15 towards HB we can throw a charge on it while having a cup of coffee. It might get you the rest of the way?

thanks to all who offered... I do love this sport as the people are involved in it for the sport of are very kind. I did make it home. Went to NAPA auto grabbed a charger threw it on over night tossed the battery in the next morning (sunday) and Burned gas. I had as stated prior disconnected the lights and made the 360 miles back (the ol' girl came thru)
I however am going to repost about the issue and see if anyone had some ideas / short cuts or advice on pulling the stator or alternator and replacing. I had smoke blowing out of the case and if you looked in to it it glowed like a hot cigarette.

of course the plug was melted and the connectors that stick into the case from the regulator were melded welded or whatever in there so no luck on the splice and crimp idea as I have that stuff in my tool bag. The hardest part of it was the pushing my bike over the Baker Blvd exit as it is up hill and bikes would just go by me and let me push my refrigerator up the cat walk myself. So I did my thighs and calfs as I have skipping those in the Gym anyways.
But it would have been nice to have a couple of you stop and help me push it up the hill of 400 yrds and I coasted down to a nice mechanic who only charged me 20 bucks to plug my battery in to his charger (after talking him into the fact his charger would work for me)
To LEO if you are out there ???? The tow truck never came!! G.D, it and BAM was as helpful as calling my Girlfriend hahaha!
All in all I was very Lucky for Vegas Bike Week 2009 I limped in 110 miles out and limped back 360 miles and had a great time out there as far as Jackpots and Woman and Partying goes.....the rest I wasted.

Oh I bump started it twice and when I got home and tried to start it nothing but clickty click click of a drained battery.
To Dan thanks for offering you're new battery to me to take with me across the desert So cool and kind. To Ac thanks for the offer but I was burning gas when you wrote this. Thanks the same Sorry I did not reply my cell did not notify me of your post or there is a lag?

Glad you made it back safely, and that you managed to have a good time in spite of the mechanical issues. Yeah I looked at the time stamp after I posted and figured you were probably flying through already. I am in Victorville and a lot of bikes stop in for gas coming back from Vegas...

To replace the stator, pull off the outer primary cover, remove compensator, remove the stator rotor, loosen small alen srew holding in rubber grommet, remove 4 bolt holding stator and then remove stator. You will probably have to remove the clutch to get the compensator off. The nut that holds the clutch on is left hand threaded.
