Battery over charging?

Hi, Have just killed one battery and am having same issues again with new battery, Bike Is a 1991 FLHTP ,
Battery spits out acid every time i go for a ride ruining the chrome on my muffler,
it seems like it is getting over charged?
voltmeter on dash reads about 14 volts when running,
I only brought the bike recently and owner had fitted New battery,
obviously hiding battery charging issue, so on 3rd battery since,
Have not done many miles till New One went dead,
any advice?

cheers

Voltage regulator. Do a proper electrical system diagnostic. Then replace the voltage regulator, because that's your problem. The diodes might be shot and you could be dumping AC into the battery too, so check the voltage across the battery with the meter on DC and again on AC. But, 99.99% the regulator is shot.

~14.2 volts at ~3Krpm

Fifteen or higher would indicate a bad regulatory
