How to manually add an FOB to TSSM

Ok, I bought a used 2008 bike and it had no FOB's with it. I have bought 2 new FOB's andneed to assign them. I have seen the manual proceedure somewhere but can't find it again. I thought it was a long proceedure requiring a battery charger to be connected to keep voltage up. But I may be confusing this because I have read so many posts and proceedures it all has ran together. I am sure there is a manual method, rather than steeler using DT to assign. Can anyone supply or point me in the right direction ??
Thanks
