How To Change Plug Wires & Coil 2005 FLH

Do you find it easier to remove the seat & tank in order to change the plug wires & coil or is that too much hassle?

I've changed plug wires with the tank on and lifted. It was a bit of a PIA. But the coil I am thinking you need to pull the tank.

While you got the tank off think of changing map sensor, its about $45, and easy to do with tank off. PIA with tank on.

You can loosen tank and see how it is, but taking tank off while be more pleasant. Maybe good time to think about quick release coupling for cross over house too. Ya how far do you go.

It's easy to do if you raise the front and rear of the tank. Always helps to have as little gas in the tank as possible.

coil check?

I lifted the tank & have the coil pulled out. there are 3 pins on the input side, each reads about 1.1 ohms cold. any other test to do here? How do you do an internal ground check? what should i look for as far as ohms on a hot coil or is cold check good enough. The reason i'm looking is i have an intermittant power loss while cruising. i'll be stroking along at 70-75 mph & try to accel & the bike starts running rough & losing torque. Sometimes it happens without even accelerating, just starts to bleed speed. Compression check was average for a 4 year old standard bike 53k miles. 140 on front, 135 on back cylinder. 2005 electraglide stanard tc88
update: I did get 120k between the 2 output leads & between each output lead & each input pin.
