Charging a 2009 Softail Deluxe

Hi all,

As I tweak my bike's visibility with some lighting I was wondering if there are "better" alternators and/or batteries than what comes stock on the bike. I've been hearing that the charging systems aren't the best. Thanks!

I don't know what "tweaks" you have in mind, but it's gonna take more that a couple of lights to outrun your stock charging system.

Thanks. Not a lot just added an air horn, some running lights, brake lights in my turn signals, etc. Low level things I believe as far as amp draw but I've just been logging comments over the years and this was the impression I was left with. If there was a better alternator or battery I would opt for that.

Yeah, you'll never have a problem with those things. Especially since I'd figure if your upgrading you'd be going to LED. As far as batteries, I've never found one better than the Harley battery. Replace it every 3 or 4 years and chances are pretty good it won't let you down. If you're not going far from home you can stretch it alot longer, but I wander alot and like to know it'll be there when I need it.
