Low voltage, Battery goes dead

My buudy was out for a ride the other day. His bike died and the battery was dead. He had it trailered home and found the plug that goes to the stator had popped off. He plugged it back in and charged the battery . Now the bike does not charge. It just crapped out down the street. Did the stator burn out or could it be the regulator? 2002 Ultra Classic.

Got my buddies bike up on my lift. The stator harness actually got sucked into the primary when the stator failed, so that explains the recent oil leak he found. I don't have a manual for this bike. What is the torque spec. for the comp. nut?
