Handlebar control switches 96 to 95

Hey, guys, somebody knows if it's easy to put 96'handlebar control set on my 95'softail custom. I like the round apperance of 96. I think only need to change the conector case. I want to change front master cilynder and clutch set too.
Thanks in advance.

i would say no to the easy part. ive put them on bikes before and you can buy the complete kit including master cylinder, clutch perch, switch housings and switches. then you have to cut the old wires and wire in the new switches. not to hard if your decent with a solder gun. its more time consuming than anything else

Did mine so I could go to Hydraulic clutch...

If the leads are long enough on the set you pick up just cut off the 96 plugs and crimp on the 95 factory style terminal ends. Most agrivating part is getting your old wires out of the plastic housing to reuse it. Could just buy a new housing, they are obsolete from H-D but easy to get in the aftermarket. Correct crimping tool is required but you don't have to pay big bucks, there are economical options and it is a good tool to have. Shoot me a note and I can help with part #'s and tool sources if you want.

Thanks, Franky and Jtorbitt. I understand mechanical part are right and no problem to put on my handlebar.
Electrical: Is not possible to extract pins from 96'housing and insert it in my 95 housing?. Are they the same long and wide?

Some years ago I extracted it to pass the cables inside a dragbar and I reinserted on the same housing to connect to the base on frame. I know how to extract from housing (with patience). And I don't like to cut and solder cause is not fine. (I'm expert with solder iron). The next option is to buy crimping tool and pins if they are not good for my 95'bike.
Thanks

The pins will not work from 95 to 96

Everything changed on the 96 wiring harness. The pins from a 96 will not fit the 95 housings or sockets. Go ahead with the swap by installing the 95 pins and housings on the 96 switch wiring, like you said "with patience".

Getting the correct tool to crimp on the pins without spending a lot took some shopping around, but there are good deals on quality tools to get the job done.

Have adapted tail light and turn signals as well, there are lots of good deals on take off parts from newer bikes that can be used once you are comfortable swapping the connectors.

Let me know what I can do to help.

John

yeah you can, jireh sells the hand controls w/ master cylinder for 100.00- you can get the switches for 50.00 on ebay -you just have to take ur gas tank off and and change ur wiring connectors... just follow your wiring diagram its real easy . harley will give u a wiring schematic if u dont have a service manual.

OK, then I need the housings L & R, clutch, front master cilynder, harness w/buttons, pins, case and crimping tool for a finest job. Right?
1949shoebox, thanks for this page (jirehcycles) very good. Yes I have service manual and spare parts too. The wiring schematic in this book is not much clear, some lines are missing. Harley gives to me for free the wiring schematics?
Thanks.
