Question Turn Signals and Horn Will Not Work

After a long days work, I threw a leg over my 07 SuperGlide, turned the key and hit the ignition. Nutt’in but a click from under the left side of the seat (fuse/relay box). At this point, all lights were working (I think). After checking the fuses, I tried again. This time, I had nothing: no lights or anything else. I was sitting on a completely dead bike. I figure it’s the battery so I’ll just get a jump. So, I call HOG roadside assistance and get a tow truck dispatched. When the guy hooked on to my battery to jump it, I turned the key and POOF, all lights came on and the bike started right up. Perfect I thought, it’s just the battery and easily charged/replaced. Then I tried the horn…dead. Then I tried the turn signals and brakes. Brake does not get brighter nor do the turn signals blink. Yet, the lights are all on. Headlight is on and high beam works, front running and rear running lights are on. Yet when I apply the brake, it does not get brighter and the horn still does not work.

Fast forward, my bike is in my garage now and the symptoms are the same. I checked the battery and it’s a perfect 12.7V. Fuses are all okay and the bike fires right up.

Any thoughts?

I get starting probelm too occassionally. Goes away if I tighten the negative cable on the battery.

Check that and see if maybe something else is shorting.

Problem solved.

The solution was to add an additional fuse to the aux slot. Where there was no fuse before. I guess since that I am running all led lights and a more powerful headlamp, it all combined was drawing too much power.

That's my theory for now...rob
