Voltage Regulator only charging at 10 volts

I only have 10 volts coming from the voltage regulator. I have checked both continuity and volts at stator. Passed both tests. This is the second voltage regulator I have tried. Any tips on why it is only putting out 10 volts? Is it possible that I have just recieved two bad regulators?

springer- will become famous soon enough
Is the voltage measured while it is connected to the battery? Whats the battery read without it connected? Is it possible that something else is drawing down the voltage like the solenoid or something.

Are you sure you tested the stator correctly? Check for opens pin to pin and check for shorts pin to ground? Was the AC voltage about 20 per 1000 RPM's without the regulator attached?

Bad V regulator. If your other tests show voltage then the only other thing to check is amps with an amprobe from stator to V regulator. A bad battery can ruin a charging system as well as a jump start from a running vehicle

Voltage is measured when not connected to battery. I guess I will just get a third a v reg and see if it starts charging. Thanks guys.

What Springer said!! Are you getting AC voltage from the stator, measured at the stator plug without the regulator on it??

We did this today...had 10v output at the plug @ 2000rpm, when it should have been 26+.

Not to confuse the AC output voltage of the stator with that of the Vreg, but if that 10V measurement reference is the output of the Vreg when it’s disconnected from the battery, it may be meaningless. A battery connection would probably be necessary to get a proper response.

Getting proper VAC at stator with v reg unplugged. The 10 VDC is from the wire going to the battery from the v reg. It was my understanding this should be approx 13-14 VDC in order to charge a 12 volt battery?
