Intermittent problem

I seem to have a intermittent electrical problem. When I'm driving down the road the battery light and check engine light comes on for a couple seconds then goes off. But it's every now and then.
I put the bike on the laptop and it's charging at 13.5 to 14.1 , and of course the battery light never came on then. I wiggled the regulator wires tightened up the grounds , made sure the battery connections were tight.
Wish it wasn't intermittent, it's driving me nuts. Could it be the on off switch? I don't think so , if it was the switch it would be shutting off and it's not , just the battery light followed by check engine for a couple of seconds.

If the event isn’t followed by any operational problem, you have no real clues other than the possibility the ECM is falsely reporting a low battery state.

Fluke, HP and likely others have portable DMM’s with a high/low peak capture capability that you could setup on the bike. With any luck you should get a low reading hit while riding that corresponds to the check light occurrence, if it’s a real event.

If it is real, then you might have an intermittent charging system to contend with.

Good luck!

Enjoy having a HOG! When my bike gets hot the control panel flash with all kings of lights-Like a Christmas Tree
