Yep, they sure do last, and they're sitting on the shelf of the dealership so no pricing or shipping costs etc. Convenient and proven in my book.

I just ordered an Odyssey PC545 here for $107. I was surprised to see that Home Depot sells these things, but they want $260

HD works for me. Easy and quick to get. Works like it's supposed to. Decent price. What more do you want?

I'm about to replace the original in my '02 Fatboy with another Harley original replacement. It's never given me any trouble but, after 7 years, I don't want to give it the opportunity to let me down somewhere. 5 - 6 years is probably the best I've ever gotten out of a car battery and I'm going to replace my bike's battery just because "it's time to". I'm convinced that a tender has improved it's longevity too.

Try the Debrix.com for the battery, it is the same battery that HD sells just cheaper. Harley does not make there own batteries. I get there AGM for about 95 bucks.

Agree totally. If you don't want to pay the HD tax, at least make sure it's a AGM type battery, and not a cheapo lead acid.

I purchased a EXT20L locally for about $75.00. DEKA is supposed to make the AGM batteries for Harley. I had five years on the original HD AGM battery and replaced this with the DEKA. Works fine in my 2003 FLSTCI

Several replies to your battery question recommend the HD battery. Rocker said I don't know who makes them, but they do a good job. For the past several years the HD battery has been made by East Penn Mfg. in Lyons, Pa. They are an excellent company.
Don't hold me to this, but I believe they were previously supplied by another Pa. battery maker and may have been imported.

squidley wants to know Dino or Syn?
Perhaps this isn't the correct area for this question, so I'll apologise now. It seems that many of you like the originals which seem to be a Deka made battery. I have also used the Oddessy with good results, but they are pricey.

My question is this for those in the know, I have a '79 Electra Glide that I need to get a new battery for. It seems that I can't find a listing for the '79 in just about any website for the FLH. It gives the '80 1340 as a start for the fitment. My question is are the '79 and '80 FLH's the same sized battery box and I could get the battery slated for the '80 model year? Thanks in advance

I to am using the Deka battery. I wasn't impressed with the Oddessy when I had one in my Buell. The Deka has been in the Buell for 5 years and the Deka in the FLHT is 3 years old.

East Penn makes the Deka battery and also makes the HD battery. Both are AGM batteries (absorbed glass mat and sealed lead acid). East Penn, as far as I know, has been supplying the AGM batteries since 1999 when they were first introduced in some models.

If you've got a Deka dealer where you live, go for it.

what about if you load test it and it holds a charge yet it is 5+ years old?
Replace? Why? If it is as good as new as far as specs go... just trade it like a woman cause of age?? LOL

I have a 2005 Road King Classic. The stock battery lasted 3 years before shorting out. Put in a Drag Specialties unit.
