Advice on wiring up some fans for an oil cooler

I just put an oil cooler on my Ultra, and would like to mount 2 Tornado cooling fans on it for stop and go traffic. While researching them...they come with a 3 or 4 pin adapter. What would be the best way to wire these up? Cut the pins off and just run the wires to an accessory switch? Would I need any kind of fuse or relay or anything. I know absolutely nothing about electrical...so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Electrically you should be able to wire them direct to the acc switch, I would look in the manual to see what protection feeds that acc switch circuit. You may want to fuse them. They should only be .75 to 1 amp a piece. I saw a write on the internet a while back, about somebody who did the same thing. Google it. Here you go...

I've never done it before, so take this for what it's worth. They are just little electrical motors. You'll need a power and a ground wire, a switch and a fuse. It's no different than wiring up a car radio. Run it off the accessory link from the bike. Def use a fuse, because those little computer fans are known to seize up once in a while, plus they will probably be getting wet.. Should be easy to set up.

Those fans look like what is typically used in a computer system. The extra wires are used for measuring the RPM of the fan so the system board can report on fan failures. Not needed for your application. I have some that include in addition a thermal sensor to switch the fan on when the ambient temp reaches a certain point. (4 wires)
