Error code help - "bUs ER"???

I have an '06 Ultra. Today it decided not to start. When I attempt to start it, it starts and immediately shuts down. The odometer shows "bUS ER' or "6US ER' or "bU5 ER" or "6U5 ER" depending on your interpretation. The security system key stays illuminated. When I try to go into the diagnostics, the menu comes on for half a second and goes immediately to the above code. I was able to get a code readout of "23" through the turn signal switches, but cannot find what that code means.

I spent Saturday installing the Electra Glo bars on the saddlebag guards. The only thing electrical I touched was removing the maxi fuse while working (did not disconnect the battery) and plugging the light bar lead into the accessory connector, but I can't see how that would cause the problem. I did have an air horn installed two weeks ago, but the bike has been fine until today. I'm thinking this has something to do with the security system? Security manual says to "see dealer" if system key stays illuminated.

As it is , the bike will not start and I can't call up diagnostic codes on the odometer. Any help will be highly apreciated.

Disconnect the bar and see what happens. Go back through what you did and check everything. If that doesn't work, put it back to stock and recheck it.
If it doesn't work, then leave it stock and take it to the dealer and act like you never touched it and don't know what could be the problem.

Hi,

Disconnect the battery and reconnetc and check again
Bus error is the bus ( wires conector) going to the ECM

OK. I disconnected the battery and reconnected - code still there. I disconnected the light bar from the accessory connector and everything is back to normal, bike starts, no codes. Clearly there is a missing step in Harley's installation instructions for the light bar, possibly dealing with the fact that I have the factory installed security system. I'll get in touch with the dealer tomorrow and see if they can shed some light on this. Thanks for the help.

It could be a defective bar also. Wouldn't be the first time something HD was bad out of the box. Was it new?

Brand new out of the box. Let's see what the dealer says today.

Are you plugging it into the GRAY data port plug or the BLACK accesories plug?
