Wiring instructions needed for electronic speedo

I've put a 6 speed behind an elbruto motor in a 68 frame and need some sort of wiring instructions for a digital speedo. I also need a name of a supplier for the relevant joiner plugs. Thx.

Ultima 6 speed. It uses oem pickup. Its a standard Harley speedo and the part number is # is 6719799a.

ok, that helps... got a pic of the speedo back? Is it a larger Road King/Softail speedo, or is it a smaller Dyna/Sportster speedo? They used different connectors

nevermind... I just figured out why I couldn't find that part number... you're in australia and have one of them there foreign Harley speedos in KPH! 67197-99a is the larger Softail/Road King speedo in KPH.

The connector is a 12 position Deutsch DTM (Mini DT series).

you can order a complete one from www.deutschconnector.com. It would be the 12 position DTM "BLACK KEY POSITION", p/n: DTM06-12SB (comes with stamped sockets that you can crimp with a normal pair of good barrel connector crimpers....

Here's your pin out for the speedo:
1 - Accessory power (12v+)
2 - trip switch
3 -
4 - check engine light
5 - security light
6 -
7 - speed sensor ground (ground to VSS. Black on VSS)
8 - speed sensor power (12v+ to VSS. Red on VSS)
9 - speed sensor signal input (VSS Output. White on VSS)
10 - GROUND
11 - trip switch
12 - speed output (for turn signal module)

DTM06-12SB or DTM06-12SD the SB picture on that website looks as though the "line up" moldings are staggered and wouldn't fit. The SD looks a little more like it.....

You need the DT06-12SB... black designates key position "B". I recently ordered some and I can verify that.

The SD is a brown connector, key position "D"... defintiely not that one.

ok thx, website pics aren't that reliable, thought I'd check. The trip switch, is that a grounding switch or a positive feeder? I'll have to set one up somehow.

Pins 2 and 11 are for the trip switch... one is "in" and the other is "out"... I'm not certain on the polarity, but just use those two connections and it will work. I know on the v-rod, they have 12v+ on them, so be careful. I've seen the v-rod switch wires short and burn traces on the speedo circuit board.

If you want the H-D style switch, you can get them from the dealer or www.digikey.com. they are Judco pushbutton switches. Ideally, the momentary, normally open, tactile switch with the rubber boot would be the one you want.

Ok one last question the VSS I bought, a thunderheart came with no info for the pinout in the supplied 3 pin plug, and because I'm gonna run a calibration unit that has its own unique wire colours I have no idea which wires go where in the VSS plug eg: red - a black - b green -c. I haven't a late model electronic speedo equiped bike to look at and I won't trust my local hd mechanic to read a wiring diagram again after a previous mistake. Thx Gus

I think this is what you are looking for; on the connector for the VSS:

3-position Deutsch DT
A- Red - 12v+
B - White - VSS Signal Out
C- Black - Ground
